This game was the first MMO I played and it used to be great fun and then they changed the system it had (skill points) to a level system like World of Warcraft etc and after that it just went shit to the point the game is no longer about.

But there is now a EMU that is working pretty damn well, it's only in Alpha stage but the game is playable with a lot of features ingame and a big community!

Anyone that used to play this game I know you will love to check it out!

Anyone that's never heard of it or played it before, it's a great Star Wars based game, very social where players can have their own houses and build a city of there own, one of the best crafting systems in any games so I've been told (I don't craft in it ;])
You can become a bounty hunter, architect, politician, dancer and entertain in the local cantinas, Pistoleer, swordman and many more!
And even one day you can unlock to become a Jedi.

The server is offline at the moment, normally is on a Sunday at this time.
    But here's the site - http://www.swgemu.com
And the page of how to install the game - http://www.swgemu.com/forums/content.php?r=179-Install-SWGEmu

Although legally you're suppose to have paid/brought the discs for the game you can easily find torrents for it.

Two I found quickly, someone else linked the pirate bay one as that site is blocked by my isp :(

Someone reviewing the EMU a year ago, not sure how good the video it is but seems he was new at in then also so might be good xD - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=308FWyzNuXI

Awesome. I never got to play SWG.

I'm a fan of MMO emus, seems a shame to let these things die.

Too bad they don't have the client for download, that would go a long way to helping them grow.

I think the problem there is that would be illegal for them to do and would get shut down or something most likely.
I am sure people can download it off a torrent or something, although the legal side of things is that you're suppose to pay for the licences or something.

I don't know... There's tons of private WoW servers running old clients w/o problem. Even those that strive for original blizzlike ai/scripts haven't yet had an issue. I've seen emus for a number of games. As long as they aren't charging for access it should be ok.

I'm guessing they just lack a source but who knows.

Anyway, I'd play it but I don't care to go search for and buy an old version of the game.

Yeah I'm not sure why it is tbh, maybe it's because there are 100s of wow private servers but this is the only SWG one that I am aware of *shrugs*

Just found this, no idea if it works http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/379830477/Star+Wars+Galaxies?tab=summary#.UGi8GE3A_m8
There are prob others on piratebay but my isp blocks that :(
Someones linked this on a youtube video saying it's what you need, but I can't see it because of what I said above - http://www.siteblocked.org/pirateba...GVzXzAwLTEzKQ==&urlclassname=cGlyYXRlIGJheQ==

    Just mastered Swordsman tonight ;]

I played the game for about an hour when it was first released. I still have the boxed collectors edition.

    I hated the game...

Then again, it was broken as hell and difficult to even figure out. I guess they fixed all of that later on, but I never went back. Supposed to be a damned good game really, I just never gave it another chance.

Just to add to what Rawr linked, I found this with his info... http://torrent.cd/72cc4dd2e20e73007...omplete+Original+Disk+Set+2012+upload.torrent

Indeed, many of the links were blocked by my antivirus - this one was not. Naturally I'll still do some scans on it after it's complete.

Click the file name to start the torrent. The download only took about 15min.

    ______
Instead of burning to discs or mounting via software I unpacked the isos as a multifile zip. The game installed with zero problems and, thanks to the emu launcher, the rest continued with little effort. Interested to see what I missed out on with this game. :)

Back in the early DHV days, I jumped on SWG fro a while... had no idea what I was doing, but I had fun trying to kill things (and not very successfully)... I think I still have the client disks (torrented a long time ago) still lying around... maybe if I get bored, I'll jump on again. I long for a mmo community once more.
