[Waiting for User] unable to update to the release version

Hi,

Looks like there is an issue with updating to the stable release of the game, A18.0

Capture12.JPG

Even though I am choosing game Version <Release> it is still updating to the latest experimental 18.1.

If a fix could be implemented it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Yeah, I run 2 different servers one being release and the other experimental and Rat is updating them both to experimental. so he is not the only one

I'm trying to replicate this and can't. Is it possible that you're seeing the current stable version and thinking its experimental? Meaning, it was... they just moved experimental to the stable release.

I ran through some tests and I see an A17 version I have installed returning a Steam build ID of: 3848769

When I check the Stable Release build ID: 4317498
And the current Experimental Build ID: 4356252

All of this seems to be correct to me.

I'll take another look and see what i can see. Also, try clicking the "Check for Update" again after you do the install, see if that build number changes. I think it is only updated when you check for an update. Might just be a display issue.

I know you can only access either server if you are running 18.1 b6 though release should be just alpha 18. If you need any other info from me I am happy to provide it.

the easy way to roll back your server from experimental is to delete the steam apps folder in the root 7dtd server folder that will also replace the serverconfig.xml. make a copy!!
just a heads up to deal with it now..
but if you are running a stable and experimental then you should be running 1 rat for each, that way you wouldn't have that problem as rat gets the id from the server folder and 1 rat can only be linked to 1 at a time.
the only time rat would upgrade another is if experimental was selected :)
so you know i did test it a number of times on my main server.
so simple fix run 1 rat per server as its not made to run 2 at the same time.
rolled back from A18.1 to A1811141115
now upgrade to A18.1
111611171118
now delete the steamapps folder as said above a then run the check and
1119
as you can see it resets the serverconfig.xml
but just write the rat config when it has finished an it will have the same settings as b4 the rollback.
hope this helps you all :)

Hey Trekkan,

Thanks for looking into this.

I followed Ciro's advice and removed the steamapp folder and now it downloaded the 18.0 stable release.

I was not running multiple instances of rat and I was only running 1 7D2D server.

Things are working fine now.

Cheers,

Thanks for the updated information! There is a steam manifest file that RAT reads to determine what version of the server you currently have. It's possible that there was an issue there with that file not updating or being updated incorrectly by Steam. Deleting that folder would of removed the file and allowed a new clean one to be written by Steam. That's all I've got on it at the moment. ;) But, I'll see if there is anything I can do to help improve the process.

that tut was a quick thing for both yours and Doren Snows needs. ya both needed to roll back a server but he also had 2 servers hence my comment about the 2 servers and to have a rat setup for both to solve his problem :) 2 birds 1 stone

It sounds like you have a server admin, that didn't change the default settings. They are using my RAT server manager, so you are seeing this website instead of wherever that server is hosted. Sorry, but there is nothing we can do to help you, you'll have to contact the server admin.

mhhh, this is very weird. The welcome message said that is a server from JFFGagming (Red Color).

Are you sure nobody there manage that server?

Trekkan is the person that made the server manager for people to use to run 7dtd servers and that message is a default one like many others until the server owner changes it to their servers website.
here is one of the many default message that need changing1120
